Beech squares

Pre-machined semi-finished components made of high-grade beech timber.

Beech squares and friezes by SPEC-WOOD

Beech squares, edging boards and friezes form the core of our product range. We know that our customers expect consistent quality, which is why we continuously monitor our production and logistics processes. For us, these are not just words – we are genuinely passionate about wood.

We produce beech blanks from carefully selected, legally sourced timber (FSC certified). At our facility, we use raw timber scanners to detect both visible and internal defects. Our proprietary, patented vacuum drying system significantly shortens the drying cycle without affecting the wood’s internal structure. The initial machining of the blanks (four-sided planing) helps to reduce logistics costs and downstream processing at the customer’s site.

As a result, our customers receive S4S beech components – vacuum dried (MC 8–10%), free from internal cracks and sticker stains, while retaining their natural light colour.

Self-developed drying system

Vacuum drying is a fast and cost-efficient solution when properly controlled. That’s why we developed and patented our proprietary MAXDRY system, which shortens the time required to reach the target moisture content without causing warping or cracking, while preserving the wood’s natural light colour.

Scanning wet timber

We ensure the consistency of our semi-finished products through advanced wood scanning technology. The absence of quality control during harvesting can lead to longer lead times and higher costs. That’s why we use raw timber scanners to eliminate material with unwanted defects already at the production stage, before the elements are kiln- or vacuum-dried.

Preliminary processing

We know from experience that some of our customers do not have the machinery required for efficient planing, which is essential for further production. An additional, often unplanned cost is the need to rework defective elements that occur during planing. That’s why all beech blanks ordered from us are planed on four sides (S4S). While this may seem to increase the unit price compared to rough-sawn blanks, it ultimately helps customers save on machine maintenance, waste handling and transport costs – resulting in a more cost-effective product overall.

Consistent production

We have observed a market trend where manufacturers using wooden components often face inconsistencies in workmanship and raw material quality — not only between separate orders, but even within a single delivery. That’s why our production process is designed for consistency and automation. We control quality both through automated inspection systems and manual checks at individual workstations. This ensures that every batch of blanks ordered from us meets the customer’s expectations.

Beech wood squares in natural colour

As wood enthusiasts, we know that improper heat treatment can affect colour stability. Poorly prepared beech squares tend to turn greyish, reddish or uneven in tone. Manufacturers producing in natural wood colours require colour consistency — which is a standard feature of our production. That’s why, in our facility, the raw material is properly stored and promptly transferred to the production line, while vacuum drying preserves its natural light tone. As a result, our customers receive beech blanks with a uniform, light colour typical of properly dried beech timber.

Beech wood squares from a legal source

Our company is a local, family-owned business. Although we have grown beyond a small workshop, we remain true to our roots and maintain a deep respect for the responsible use of natural resources. We are aware of the environmental impact of unsustainable forestry, which is why all our raw materials come exclusively from verified sources. Our commitment to sustainability is confirmed by our FSC certification.

How do we work together – answers to frequently asked questions

Using modern equipment, we SCAN and X-RAY the timber. This ensures that elements with visible or hidden defects are not sent for further processing! This saves time and money and, above all, eliminates surprises at the stage of subsequent processes.

We use vacuum drying. We have a patented and completely unique method for unconventional wood drying. We have spent many years on this process, improving and refining it to maximise its efficiency. We dry wood extremely quickly without damaging its structure.

We source timber exclusively from certified forests. We monitor this process ourselves to ensure that we receive timber that has been harvested appropriately and is of the expected quality.

Each order consists of at least several processes, and we know the duration of each of them.
We are able to estimate the completion and delivery times with great accuracy. In addition, delivery notification is an added value of our offer! Thanks to this, we can be sure that the goods will be collected, and customers can prepare for the upcoming delivery in advance.

We begin each subsequent order, regardless of its size, by establishing processes and selecting the optimal path. Even if the order is relatively small, we do not carry it out manually and randomly. The lead time for prototypes and the initial production run (pilot batch) may be slightly longer as a result, but at the same time, we are able to jump into mass production without re-implementation.

The quality of our products is controlled at every stage of production, both automatically (X-ray, scanner, all kinds of measuring devices) and by experienced staff. Our quality control includes workstation checks, designated process leaders, and production management oversight.

We are prepared and open to any type of logistics. We organise domestic and international shipments ourselves and also accept shipments organised by recipients. Shipments are notified in advance, reducing the risk of delivery problems.

We do not allow raw materials to go to waste!

This is thanks to our perfect drying process and proper wood storage. The wood we bring in logs immediately goes to the sawing line. Cut to the desired size, it goes straight to the dryer and then, after initial planing, to the warehouse or directly to further processing.

We mark our products in several ways.
The colour of our wood itself is unique, light, uniform and free of discolouration. This is the first distinguishing feature. The next mark is technological marking. We know exactly which pieces of wood have left our factory. Machines and devices leave a ‘mark’ that is invisible to the layman but visible to us.
We also mark our products at the customer’s request using a laser, with which we apply patterns, inscriptions or logos – according to the customer’s expectations.

The quality and availability of our products. These are the most important features that we use to build our reputation.
Our customers can also count on full service from us, which is often a huge advantage. We are constantly improving what can be improved. We add new equipment to our machine park whenever we see an opportunity to do something better or faster. We are always open to discussions about new and existing products. We often develop our products and processes in response to customer needs and expectations.

Because it is more profitable – primarily for the customer.

Preliminary planing allows us to achieve the desired size/cross-section. The customer no longer has to do this. The resulting waste remains with us, not with the customer. Potential defects and surface irregularities are removed at our premises. Another advantage is the smaller surface area and weight during transport.
